Got a Quick Sec For a One-Question Lightroom Survey?
Hi Gang – I’m back from vacation (took some time off for a trip with the family before my son heads off for college).
Would you mind taking a quick survey about your use (or non-use) of the Mobile version of Lightroom? Aww, thanks…you are awesome (and here’s the link):
Hope you all have an awesome Lightroom-infused weekend (I’m doing a fashion shoot today for a KelbyOne online class, and I’ll be tethering into Lightroom and using Lightroom mobile so the Art Director can see my shots live on an iPad during the shoot). 🙂

It is missing an option on your survey: “I want to, but not useful for me”.
Any tool “mobile” has two ways to be useful. From your desktop to the moment your are mobile. And when you start your job mobile and then go to the desktop.
Ligthroom Mobile simply ignores the second moment. I have a CC subscription, but without RAW support I simply can’t use it while I’m traveling to simply view and select the photos while I take them.
What do I miss here?
“Not interested” seemed to be mt best option but to qualify, I’m not interested unless I can load my raw files, keyword and flag. If I could do those things I could leave my laptop at home and go mobile! At the moment the only use that Lightroom Mobile has for me is to edit iPhone photos. The survey would have been more useful to you if there was a place to add comments following an “if not, why not” prompt.

Couldn’t find another avenue to send this…so…just wanted to pass along a tip/discovery. The new “haze removal” tool works pretty well on fireworks shots to remove some of the smoke and leave just the fire-trails in the sky.

And…discovered today while photographing the destruction of a building…it also helps to remove the dust rising from the rubble! 🙂

Your survey is missing the most important question.
“I want to but can’t (critical features missing).”
There are legions of people who have the licence and do not bother to use it.
Personally, I am gobsmacked that so much effort is put into the develop side of this app and almost totally ignore the library module (keywords, metadata such as Title, Caption, Location).
I would like to use the app but it is currently just consuming digital bits on my ipad. I have no interest in using the Lightroom develop module on an iPad, but very interested in using the Lightroom Library and Slideshow modules. Others mileage I know will vary.
You should launch another survey for Lightroom mobile licence owners as to why they do not use it.
i’m in the ‘not enough questions’ camp. I use it, but only for syncing my portfolio to my iPad – not enough to warrant a “you bet!”, I think. I haven’t come across any scenario whereby I either can’t wait a few hours to edit or want to edit and haven’t got my laptop with me.
I love it for my portfolio. I also use it to rate and sort.

Your survey could use. 2nd question – what mobile device(s) do you use. For me, I don’t use LR mobile cuz my devices are iPhone 5s (too small) and a Kindle Fire (no LR mobile option).
I love using Lightroom Mobile with my iPad. My own methodology to using it is for the Select / Reject and Star Rating functions. Once synced, I can sit on the couch watching TV and image by image select the ones I wish to spend more time with in Lightroom / Photoshop. I do not use any other features of Lightroom Mobile than that.
Hi Scott, I also checked “You Bet” but do not use it that much. I would rather use my hp 30″ Monitor, it is a lot more fun.
I vote ‘not interested’ simply because I’m old school enough to believe that you really can’t do any serious editing on such a small device. And to go along with that antiquated thought… any editing is serious editing.
I said “not interested”: I tried it on my Android tablet during my 30 day trial of CC and at first I thought it might even be enough to make me move to CC. However, (as far as I can see) Android tablets don’t get Presentation mode which prevents users from making accidental changes – I messed up some of my edits and had to go back to the desktop to undo them. I also tried using it on a plane but it seems that it has to sync the change for each image before you can edit the next so offline editing is not possible. Finally, Lightroom Mobile on Android already has less functionality than iOS but the most recent updates for Lightroom included new features for iOS but not one was listed for Android.
Adobe are clearly wanting everyone to move to Lightroom CC and are using a mixture of a carrot and a stick. As an Android user I feel like a second class citizen (for Mobile) so all I see from Adobe is a stick – no updates for Lightroom desktop. Maybe if they put a little more effort into the Android version I might move to CC – how much would it take to implement Presentation mode – basically you are disabling all the editing features!
Until Adobe start making the effort for Android I am not interested in Mobile.
Its mainly because, I am still using an old iPod touch that only supports IOS 6.
Hi Scott. I have all the applications on my iPhone and iPad…but it just isn’t in my workflow at all. I bring the camera/chip back to my desktop and process it there. I don’t tether…and usually when I travel, I have a laptop with the full application there…so the mobile stuff just isn’t value added. I’m grateful that they have it…but…
Haven’t downloaded it. Don’t see a purpose for working on a tablet when I have a full-blown workstation that allows integration with Photoshop, use of plug-ins, and much, much larger displays.
Also, if I need to edit images taken with the tablet or smartphone, Snapseed works just fine.
As I have mentioned in past ‘surveys,’ why aren’t some of the KelbyOne non-employee professional photographers queried on these issues. I believe that, they too, would only have a very limited, if any, usefulness for any of the Adobe mobile applications.
I checked Not interested in “Lightroom Mobile” as the current implementation is for the limited, restricted “mobile” OSs, Android and iOS and I have no interest in those. My portable devices, both notebook and tablet, are full OS machines (Win8.1 at present) capable of running the regular Lr and Ps. Currently, I run Lr5, but I’m very interested in the “mobile” mode in Lr6 and Lr/CC that my current tablet can’t run these newer versions as it only support 32bit Win.
I’d love to use LR Mobile, but the license I got through my employer doesn’t include mobile and this is a hobby so I can’t justify the ongoing expense. I would really love to be able to sit downstairs with my family and go through images and do the minor editing that my daughter’s pictures require, because right now upstairs at the desktop is not where I want top be spending my time (so my photos just sit and wait). A laptop could fix the issue, but I don’t really need one for anything else so again, I can’t justify the expense.
I answered “You bet” but to be honest I have it, used it and love the idea, but I haven’t really worked out how it fits in with my workflow. I nearly always have my MacBook pro with me so I’m not yet sure where and when having it on the iPad will make sense for me. I guess time will tell.
Yeah, one other option. I want too, but it is too slow and bulky to be viable for use with clients.

Even though I’ve used Lightroom Mobile I chose”Not yet. but thinking about it” because I wasn’t happy with the constraints when I did try it and my experience didn’t warrant an enthusiastic “You bet!” response.
I use it, but not sure really what to do with it. For now, I am only viewing photo’s to show clients on my I-phone and/ or I-pad. What else can I do with it and why would I want to? For editing purposes, it’s hard to beat a decent monitor and Waucom tablet.
I have it on my Android device, but i dont use it. I think the Monitor (Galaxy Tab 10.1) is to small to see what i like to see and usage with my fingers is to inaccurate for me.
I like using LR Mobile on my iPad to edit my iPhone photos. I don’t shoot tethered very often but would like to learn more about it.
Rather, I want to, but I don’t have any tablet device and don’t currently see how it would benefit my workflow.
You also need: I would like to try it, but my tablet doesn’t support it. (I could use it on my phone – but that’s an awfully small screen.)
Sorry – correction to previous post – I would have said, “No, I would dearly like to, but it won’t work on my top of the line Android device because that device doesn’t have enough space in the system area to install it.”
Would have liked to take the survey, but there was no answer for me – I would have checked “No, I would dearly like to be able to use it but it won’t work on my top of the line, excellent, Android phone because it only works on Apple devices.”
I’d use it a lot more if it could import my raw files.
When I’m on vacation I bring them into the iPad’s camera roll with the Lightning SD card reader, but Lightroom Mobile can’t see them :(. I’d be so much more productive if I could do the picks / rejects on the week or on the drive / flight home. Plus I like to share shots during the vacation with the family and get their opinion on the keepers.
I like these quick-and-dirty surveys, but I would have checked the option that said, “I use it sometimes but so far it’s not really that valuable to me.”
Same for me: I do have the license and I would use it, if: I could sync smart collection and if I could search for meta data in the iPad.
I agree Stephen, I have it but rarely use it.

Me three! Use it occasionally, but it’s not quite where I need it to be to use it seriously.
