Many of them he had written on the back what and were
they were. Do you do anything like copying, double sided so that I do not lose what he wrote. They are all black and white.

Well, all panels, with the exception of History, sort alphanumerically, so that’s consistent. I suppose History is different so that it shows the most recent history step at the top. I’ve lived with it for 15 years and I think it unlikely to change in the next 15. I do think it would be useful if we could change the sort order in all panels between A – Z and Z – A like we can with sorting photos. I can see the benefit of the most recent folders being at the top instead of the bottom.

The fact is that I do NOT give any name to the snapshots. I have a good reason for that. The date and hour settings make that they are chronologically listed top-to-bottom, whilst the history steps are chronologically listed bottom-to-top. So definitely a discrepancy, because if the user gives the snapshot a name, they are listed alphabetically, which is something I don’t want. I want to see the snapshots in a chronological order, bottom to top, like the history steps. And that should simply be the case if the panel in question is programmed correctly. It’s a matter of a simple, small tweak to some code line.

No discrepancy: the snapshots are sorted alphabetically, give the name you need and achieve appropriate order.

Why? Well, once upon a time I used to work in IT and all programmers I knew then, thought that their own way of doing things, ordering things, or naming things in software, was the only good way and far better than the way of their colleagues (or competitors as they saw them…). And when people change jobs, that doesn’t help either. Nowadays, software is so complicated, so multi-functional, so elaborate, that probably every single function, panel, or command, has its own programmer.

But I could be plain wrong in this case, and it could be that, once Adobe created Lightroom they understood that the word “Snapshots” in Lightroom Classic (the original Lightroom) made people think too much of the snapshots in Photoshop, and that the word “Versions” was indeed a better name for that particular function, whilst they didn’t want or couldn’t easily change the word “Snapshots” in Lightroom Classic.

Numbering your snapshots doesn’t change the top-to-bottom order, unless you would know beforehand the number of snapshots you are going to create and start off with the highest number.

The fact that the snapshots are automatically ordered top-to-bottom and the history steps bottom-to-top, is a nuisance that makes me avoid creating snapshots. I think this discrepancy can easily be fixed by the programmers.

I don’t know if there is a reason, but I agree with you. That said, I always rename my snapshots to something more meaningful to the reason for why it was created, and if I need them in an order I start with a leading number.

I swear I’ve seen plenty of LRC tutorials on YouTube but you’re the first one to mention it!

Cause on the other hand I use it frequently in LR/Mobile >.<
Because it's named "Versions" and right there at the toolbar. Adobe naming strategy is a mess, why can't they give the same names to equal functions?!

To me, stacking a number of snapshots chronologically bottom to top (like the history steps) seems to make more sense than what has been the case since I remember using LrC (from its first version onwards).
