How To Automatically Add Your Camera Phone Photos To Lightroom
Happy Tuesday, everybody. Got a quickie for you Lightroom Mobile users that you might find really handy — it’s a semi-hidden feature that will let you automatically import your camera phone images into Lightroom, and have those automatically sync with your Lightroom Desktop. Here’s how to set it up:
STEP ONE: In Lightroom Mobile, click on the ‘LR’ icon in the top left corner of the screen to slide out the settings screen you see above. Now turn on the toggle switch for “Auto Add Photos” (as shown here). Don’t worry — this doesn’t add any photos to a collection (yet).
STEP TWO: In the Organize section, you’re going to create a new Collection (this will be the one where you camera phone photos will appear), so tap on the New Collection “Plus” sign in the top right corner (it’s shown above in red).
STEP THREE: When the Create Collection dialog appears (seen above), give this new collection a name (I named mine “Auto Camera Uploads” so there’s no mistaking which collection this is once it’s in Lightroom Mobile or Desktop).
STEP FOUR: Now scroll down to your newly created collection, then tap on the three dots [ … ] to the far right of your collection’s name. This brings up the pop-up menu you see above. Tap on “Enable Auto Add” and you’re done. Now, when you take a photo with your camera phone, it will get imported into Lightroom Mobile, which will sync back to your desktop (you’ll find it in a collection set called “From Lightroom Mobile”), and it all happens now automatically.

Can anyone tell me :
1) if Lightroom mobile copies the raw files from camera roll into the app, are we able to delete the photo off of camera roll and it would still remain in Lightroom mobile?
2) if we load raw files onto iPad through Lightroom mobile, will the raw files automatically sync with our laptop/desktop of we have the adobe photo package?
Works well but how do I can import them into my main file structure on my main computer
Can the import happen without the auto sync as it’s someone else’s phone and I do not use a smart phone.
This method doesn’t create duplicates and also provides an automatic backup for smartphone photos just in case I lose my phone.

I have Lightroom Mobile on both my iPhone and iPad. Would you suggest I use The same folder (Auto Camera Updates) with auto add on both devices or have a separate folder with auto add for each devices?

Does the full version of the photo go back to the LR desktop or is it a smart preview.
What happens on LR Mobile when at my desktop I move the photo out of the From Lightroom Mobile collection and into my photo directory structure?
I achieve the same thing using Dropbox camera upload, which uploads the photos to Dropbox cloud (also a backup) which in turn gets synced to my desktop.
I then set up Lightroom to auto-import from Dropbox.
This method doesn’t create duplicates and also provides an automatic backup for smartphone photos just in case I lose my phone.

I’ve been doing what Marc does and have Lightroom auto tag and rename them and move them to a specific folder
I tried this but still prefer the Dropbox method, especially when I learned that (a) it duplicated files on my iPhone (need 32 GB model next time) and (b) doesn’t actually move them onto my desktop computer. I need an import feature, not a syncing feature. Only problem is that the Dropbox method won’t transfer the versions from editing in Snapseed unless I direct Snapseed to make a copy of the file.
I use Lightroom Mobile on my iPad, but not on my iPhone. The reason is that I have much more storage space on the iPad, and more screen real estate to do any viewing and manipulation of images. Therefore, Where I set up “auto-import” into Lightroom mobile is in the iPad. The photos I take with the iPhone get auto-magically transferred to the iPad, and from there, they get imported into the iPad´s Lightroom Mobile, and from there to my Desktop.
This is the primary reason for me deleting Lightroom Mobile from my iPhone. The operative word is “copy”. Space on my phone is precious enough without automatically duplicating every image. My photos are automatically available on my desktop using the Apple Photos app and, if I really want to bring them into Lightroom on my computer it’s simple enough to plug in via USB and import them as I would with my camera.
I make a point of avoiding any app that forces me to import photos, thus duplicating them, before it can edit them.
I make it a point to use a real camera and not a phone.
Some phone cameras these days are just as good or better than a point and shoot real camera.
I stopped using this feature since it wouldn’t let me edit the images on my regular computer.
As my phone takes dng (RAW) images, this was unacceptable to me. So now I copy the dngs to my computer and import from there.
