I really wanted to like this, but it’s kind of a mess. The workflow isn’t very clean, it’s very slow if you try to do your whole collection, and like others have said there are too many useless keywords added.

Not to mention when I sync in LR I get a bunch of tags added to my keywords.
It also overwrites any keywords in LR you may already have put in.

Not the keywording solution I was looking for.

I bought this, although it’s really rough in my opinion.

First, as others point out, it keywords excessively. If it sees a patch of brick wall in the background you get a “Brick Wall” keyword even though it’s nowhere near the subject of the photo.

Second, I have an enormous LrC keyword tree. By default, this craps all over that by putting every keyword at the top level. I fixed that with some scripting that puts everything down a level into “ON1 AI” so I can curate the keywords they add.

With that, I think this will save me some time and help me keyword better, but I definitely will have filter through to find the few best keywords per photo.

Thank you Don, Mike and Marty. I was getting excited about this until all y’all (plural for you all) gave me the heads up. I have used ON1 for years but this one sounds like a no for the time being.

I can’t imagine how this is useful. Do you ever search for ’hair,’’ mammal,’ or ‘light’ and so on?

I tag reluctantly but do add tags with terms I would search on which is much more specific than these broadly generic terms.

And ON1 overwrites my own hard work to tag very specifically! Complete nonstarter for me.

I was all ready to buy this until I realized it is only a stand alone product. It doesn’t help with the 90,000+ photos I already have in Lightroom because it would overwrite all the work already done on those photos. So I’ll pass until ON1 makes it a plug-in that writes keywords internally to the Lightroom metadata.

Works best with lightroom with newly imported photos. If photos have previous lightroom edits overwriting the metadata with ON1’s keywords will also overwrite those edits
