Got Lightroom But Haven’t Learned Photoshop Yet?
Hi gang, and yes, it’s Monday already (altogether now…groan!)
Anyway, when I’m out on the road with my Seminar Tour (next stop is in Indianapolis this Thursday by the way), I run into so many photographers who tell me they signed up for Adobe’s Creative Cloud Photographer’s Bundle (Lightroom & Photoshop for $9.99 a month), but they’re not really using the Photoshop part yet.
They tell me, “I know I should be using it…” or “I know I could be doing so much more…” but they just haven’t taken the time to learn it or had the right opportunity.
That’s why I did this new KelbyOne online course called “7 Photoshop Techniques Every Lightroom User Needs to Know” — it’s expressly for Lightroom users and I focus on the 7 main things you would leave Lightroom for, and it’s a short course – you’re literally just two-hours away from adding Photoshop to your workflow and using it like a boss! Watch that trailer above and you’ll see what the class is about.
One of the main topics I cover is Layers — not just how to use them, but when and why you’d want to use them. In fact, I cover that type of stuff a lot, letting you know the reasons why you’d need to jump to Photoshop, and then exactly what to do, step-by-step, when you get there. I think it will help a lot of folks unlock the power of Photoshop, and I hope you’ll give it a try.
Also, if you’re already using Photoshop, but you know another Lightroom user who needs to learn the ropes in Photoshop, maybe you could pass it on to them for me?
How ’bout a handy Lightroom keyboard shortcut while you’re here?
You might already know this one, but I get asked it a lot, so I thought I’d throw it out there. If you want to see a quick before/after of your edits to an image, press the [ \ ] backslash key on your keyboard.
That’s it for today – hope you have a better than average Monday, and we’ll see ya back here on Wednesday. 🙂
Best,
-Scott
P.S. If you searched for a photo walk in your local city last week, and you didn’t find one — look again today — a BUNCH of new cities added photos walks this weekend to my 9th Annual Worldwide Photo Walk. Here’s the link.
Love having mini A.H.A. moments!
Option+E = edit in @photoshop > save/close.
Option+E = edit ‘original’ = saves the layers in @Photoshop!
All this time….since version 1 embarrassingly enough….I had NO IDEA LR saves my layers! (Always saved my layered file with a different name straight from PS).
Excellent goods from you, man. I’ve understand your stuff previous to and you’re just too excellent. I actually like what you’ve acquired here, certainly like what you are stating and the way in which you say it. You make it enjoyable and you still take care of to keep it sensible. I can not wait to read far more from you. This is actually a tremendous site..
I have brought a book – Lightroom 5 book for digital photographers and on page 476 it states an area to download 24 presets.
This does not work and thus no presets. Have the been moved to another website?
the website was : http://kelbytraining.com/books/LR5
Many thanks for any help
