Hi, gang – just a heads up – I recorded a training class to get photographers who are interested in the new cloud-storage based “Lightroom CC” up and running fast. It’s called “learn Lightroom CC in One Hour” (though just between us, the total class length is 1-hr, 10-minutes long but that is including the class intro, wrap up, extraneous stuff – the training part really comes in for a landing at just under one-hour-ish).

Big news today — Adobe released a pretty major update to Lightroom Mobile with lots of long-awaited features making their way to Mobile, (and if you use Lightroom Mobile on your iPad, today’s an even better day for you).

Note: on the heels of this announcement, we’re releasing my new “Lightroom Mobile: Start to Finish” online course today, too! KelbyOne members will be able to watch it later this morning (or you can take the 10-day free trial if you’re not a member, and watch it today, as well). 

In the meantime, I made a quick “first look” video for you going over the new features and interface (below), but before we get to there, in short here’s what’s new:

• The Adjustment Brush is here (Awwwww, yeah!) and it rocks! Great implementation (see the video below). Plus, if you have an iPhone with 3D Touch support, it’s pressure sensitive when “painting” with your finger, and if you have an  iPad Pro, it supports the Apple Pencil’s pressure sensitivity.
• You can now Erase areas in the Radial and Graduated Filter  (like you can on desktop Lightroom)
• Full Featured Sharpening is here (the full panel from Desktop Lightroom CC with all the same sliders)
• The Noise Reduction Panel is here, too! (in the Detail panel)
• Cool ‘Haptic Feedback’ feature for straightening images while aiming built-in camera app
• Live Clipping Warning (via a Zebra pattern) while shooting with the built-in camera app
• All new updated Android phone interface, designed to be most “Android-y” UI for Lightroom Mobile yet, with a faster, more natural Android feel throughout the App.
• The iPad gets the new “more Lightroom CC-like” user interface introduced in the iPhone previously (seen at the top of this post).

There’s a few other smaller tweaks and enhancements, and some things are more discoverable thanks to the update interface. Take a look at the video before for a quick look:

Adobe has not yet released the new user interface for Android tablet’s yet, but hopefully, that won’t be too far behind.

You guys know I’ve been touring the US with my “Shoot Like a Pro: Reloaded” tour (which comes to an end in Dallas next month), and I hear from so many people out there whose Lightroom life is a mess (their words). Not because they don’t know how to use the Develop Module, they tell me “I don’t know where my photos are!” and “I can’t find anything” and “I’m confused about catalogs” and basically they tell me they’re at the point where they just want to start over from scratch with Lightroom , but they’re in “too deep!” They’re frustrated, upset, and some are actually ready to bail on Lightroom altogether, because they believe they’ll never really know:

(a) Where their images are really stored
(b) If their images are really backed up
(c) or how to find their images without a lot of effort

That’s why I created this course — this simplified organizational system. It’s designed for regular everyday Lightroom users. It’s  not for Lightroom experts who are have a plan that works in place; it’s not people who contribute stock images, it’s not for working journalists; it’s not for users who enjoy complex systems. It’s for “everybody else.”  Regular photographers who just want a really simple way to organize and backup their images, and their catalog, and be able to find their images without a ton of effort and planning up front, so they can stop all the worrying and frustration and really enjoy Lightroom again.

Spoiler Alert: It all starts long before you ever launch Lightroom.

The response has been incredible!
The course has only been online 5-days, and we already have an avalanche of positive feedback from people who are already incorporating “The System” or planning on moving to it. I hear it’s the most feedback we’ve received on any class (and we have over 600 online classes!).

Hi gang, and yes, it’s Monday already (altogether now…groan!)

Anyway, when I’m out on the road with my Seminar Tour (next stop is in Indianapolis this Thursday by the way), I run into so many photographers who tell me they signed up for Adobe’s Creative Cloud Photographer’s Bundle (Lightroom & Photoshop for $9.99 a month), but they’re not really using the Photoshop part yet.

They tell me, “I know I should be using it…” or “I know I could be doing so much more…” but they just haven’t taken the time to learn it or had the right opportunity.
