Lightroom Mobile New Features First Look (including RAW editing)

Whoo Hooo!!!! Big update for Lightroom Mobile, including the ability to edit RAW images from your DSLR or Mirrorless cameras. Hear it straight from the source as we had Josh Haftel, Adobe’s Lightroom Mobile Product Manager, in for this exclusive interview and first look at the new features. Take a look:

Very psyched about what’s been added in this update (and where things are going based on what we just saw). Here’s the blog post directly from Adobe’s own “Lightroom Journal” (link) with full details on the update, so make sure you check that out, too.

A big thanks to Josh Haftel for spending some time with us, and a high-five to Adobe’s Lightroom engineers who continue to make the app better and better, which is awesome!

OK, now go and download the update and enjoy!

Best,

-Scott

When I import the RAW file using a connection kit:
    1) After it is imported into lightroom, can I delete it from my iphone camera roll without deleting the RAW file from LR Mobile?

    2) Once everything is synchronized, how do I work with just the Smart Preview on my device and have the RAW file only on my desktop which has the space?

I think it’s crap that you have to be a Cloud member in order to edit RAW files! I have bought into the Adobe ecosystem for 16 years; starting with PS 5.0, every version of LR from v1.0 up to the latest v6.x, Dreamweaver, etc. Why do I need to pay Adobe a monthly stipend for the privilege of editing RAW files on my iPad? I’m guessing the LR and PS CC versions are the big draw for monthly members and that the latest functionality of LR Mobile probably wouldn’t sway anyone to sign up. But, hey, maybe that’s just me.

Love it. Thanks Adobe. Keep the changes coming. Faster, faster.

We still need the brush, and spot removal ( I know about fix, but who wants a new jpg file. We need it in Lr mobile.) How about virtual copies, access to all the metadata.

It’s great Adobe is putting all this effort into mobile.

I would love the Adjustment Brush and Spot Removal, and I imagine we’ll have both before long, now that they’ve breached the local adjustments wall. Virtual copies aren’t high on my personal list, but I know a lot of folks that want access to all the Metadata, so I’m with ya on that one.

Yes…. but we still cannot do the basics, such as edit a few important metadata fields. Much more practical use of time while travelling, in my view. I am sure this mobile version will reach a practical level of maturity at some stage, but until mobile devices have a proper file system and colour calibration native to the o/s I am not interested.
