Hi John, Yes, you can (and should) delete old backup catalog files. Just make sure you know where your working catalog is located first, as I have seen people accidentally delete the wrong catalog file. Check this out: https://lightroomkillertips.com/do-you-know-where-your-catalog-is/

I have to confess I have not been good at keeping my Lr directory cleaned out. So in looking at it after reading your tip article I see a bunch of stuff that has to go. But I also found one file folder titled BACKUPS that contains zip files of Lr catalogs going back years (4.6gbs). Can that entire folder be deleted? It had to be Lr that created it, I sure didn’t.
