The Scoop From Adobe About Their “Aperture to Lightroom Switcher” Plug-in

Our own Mia McCormick caught up with Chris Quaig from Adobe at the Photo Plus Expo up in New York earlier this month about their “Aperture to Lightroom” Switcher migration plug-in.
Any more comments on this? Is there a published maximum Aperture Library size? How about multiple Library’s?
The Aperture to LR5 plugin built in to LR 5.7.1 does not work for large Aperture libraries. After an hour and a half on the phone to a very nice agent in India (after he tried various permission changes and other tweaks to my system) he asked me to create a new Aperture library with only a handful of photos. It imported almost instantly. Trying to import almost 500gb of photos referenced on my external hard drive would not work. The work around was to export portions of the Aperture library to the desktop to be imported into LR5. My projects were in folders by year. So far i’ve imported 2014 and 2015.
Dear Adobe,
You claim that you make it easy and painless to pull Aperture files over to LR/PS. Yet, the one thing that is the MOST painful, is the one thing you DON’T do. You DON’T pull picture edits over. ANY photo that has been edited…whether those edits were quick 20 sec tasks, or edits that took days to compleat…. all of that is lost.
So…tell me please….how is THAT supposed to be painless?
